Description of the meeting
Buzau 10-14.10.2022: 4 short-term exchange of groups of students and teachers, Liceul Tehnic Buzau, "Regional Dances and Music".

Participants: 21 international students, 11 teachers, hosts: project leader/school director, teachers, parents, 15 project group students, educational authorities, representatives of cultural houses and regional band leaders, owners and employees of regional companies, museums, restaurants.

5 working days:

  1. We had a meeting at the Buzau City Hall, talking to the Vice-Mayor of the city about the educational and cultural strategy of the city in recent years and about the integration of regional education into education. There was a welcome to the school for the delegations, their presentation, a meeting with the school project groups of students and teachers. We toured the school, learning about its history, educational offer, teaching profiles, involvement in EU and educational projects. Students from 6 schools gave presentations on the 'History of regional dances'. As part of the group integration, pupils danced selected regional dances.
  2. Educational excursion to Bucharest: visiting the Ethnographic Park with historic wooden architecture from the 19th/20th century, equipment and tools from different regions of Romania. We visited the city centre, saw the parliament building and Heidi's chocolate workshop. We took part in a lunch with regional cuisine.
  3. Guided educational excursion to the Carpathian Mountains and visits to: the monastery in Berca, the Nature Reserve with mud volcanoes, the Jewellery Museum, the caves of the first Christians and hermits in Alunis. Participation in the pottery workshop at the Art Centre in Alunis. Learning about the history, nature and customs of these places. Campfire together and testing of Romanian dishes at a restaurant in Alunis.
  4. Dance workshop for students at the Cultural Centre in Villa Albatros, touring the historic building; teachers' participation in a meeting to disseminate the school's results and projects together with the local community, entrepreneurs and representatives of cultural centres and local schools. Guided visit to the cemetery of war victims in Buzau.
  5. Erasmus+ Day. Ceremonial presentation of traditional regional dances and songs by students from 6 schools: Poland - 2 Silesian dances: owczarek and gołąbek, Portugal - local song Da-me uma gotinha d'aua, Turkey – Harmandalı dance, Damat Halayl Sen bir aysin (song), Croatia - traditional dance of the Slavonia region šokačko kolo, France - traditional Basque dance. Presentation of songs, dances and instruments by a school in Romania and a local song and dance centre: playing the pan flute, Hora suite - schioapa-breaza. The project teachers meeting summarizing the 5th exchange and preparing to the 6th exchange in Portugal. Filling in the 5th evaluation form with questionnaire for teachers and students involved in the exchange.


Farewell ceremony with presentation of certificates and disco.


How did the participation in this activity benefit the involved participants?

HOST SCHOOL
Continuing international cooperation; improving managerial and organisational competences; strengthening cooperation with local institutions/authorities in Buzau; creating a positive image of the school in the community and education in a European dimension.
Students from 6 schools presented the culture of their regions, focusing on costumes and accessories: Aegean Region, Silesia, Alentejo, Central Croatia, Muntenia, New Aquitaine.

TEACHERS
Establishing regional and international cooperation, exchanging good practices, working on project results, exchanging teaching techniques in regional education; getting to know the school, the educational offer, the students and staff of Liceul Tehnic Buzau, making new contacts.

PARTICIPANTS
Getting to know the Muntenia region in Romania:
  • *
    educational and project offer of the vocational technical school with electrical, mechanical, IT profiles;
  • regional cuisine: Zmamaliga, sarmale, ciorba, papanasi, zacusca;
  • * Romanian dances, instruments, songs;
  • * acquaintance with characteristic, historical and cultural sites of the Buzau region: monasteries in Buzau, Bucharest and Berca, military cemetery in Buzau, Villa Albatros in Buzau, Nature Reserve with mud volcanoes; tour of Bucharest (Parliament), excursion in the Carpathian Mountains, caves of hermits and first Christians.

    • personal: creating work, organising events, working in an international group, public speaking, learning English language; knowing the regional customs of 5 countries;
    • social: : work in an international group, organisation of a local event, participation in a workshop, in a major event promoting tolerance, diversity, equality; active participation in local life.
    • Cultural: learning regional dances and songs, visiting historical and characteristic places in Muntenia/ Romania.
