Description of the meeting
Aliağa March 14-18.03.2022: 2nd short-term exchange of groups of pupils and teachers, Heydar Aliyev Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, "Rituals at Birth, Wedding and Funeral".
Participants: 19 foreign students and 11 teachers, hosts: leaders, teachers, headmasters, parents, 15 project students, several dozen students of the school, families, headmistress and staff of other school, owners and employees of regional companies, museums, mosgue, restaurants, hotel.

After being welcomed by the project leaders of the Turkish school, the delegations went to the city of Bergama - the ancient city of Pergamon, whose monuments are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We visited Acropolis, Museum of Egyptian Gods, market in Pergamon.
- We visited Izmir. We had a visit to Izmir Girls' Advanced Technical High School, a specialist school whose teachers and students create Turkish art. We took part in an Ebru workshop - a traditional craft made using the marbling technique; we also visited the school's Art Museum with its collection of costumes, dolls, porcelain, textiles and traditional crafts. We had a meeting at the Salepcioglu Mosque with a demonstration of prayers and a conversation with the imam and the mosque' superior. We saw the bazaar, the sights of Izmir: the Clock Tower.
- Wednesday was another day of encounter with UNESCO monuments. We had a workshop in the village of Nazarköy with Mr Mahmut SÜR, a master of devil eyes beads (the National Inventory of Living Human Treasures of Turkey). We visited the House of Virgin Mary and the ancient city of Ephesus and typical Aegean village of Sirince.
- We visited the school and saw the teaching profiles: mechanical and chemical. The students of the Turkish school prepared a welcome ceremony, Turkish dance show, Henna Night ritual. Students from 6 schools gave presentations. We also visited Kozbeyli village and the seaside resort with its ancient history - Fokai.
- Students of 6 schools prepared stands in the school hall to present their regional culture and towns. Costumes, accessories, souvenirs, photos and food illustrated the culture of our regions and cities. We learned Turkish songs and dances. The teachers held a project meeting and the pupils solved a Kahoot test on the culture and rituals of the 6 regions including our project topics. We visited the town of Aliaga. In the evening there was a festive dinner with the invited guests and the presentation of certificates to the exchange participants.
Results: presentations, evaluation forms, the project logo, the project Instagram profile, 6 videos on project YouTube channel.
Methodology: working in groups, workshops, tour guides, Google Forms, mobile applications, discussions, visiting local companies, project meetings, meetings with experts, show, Living Library.
How did the participation in this activity benefit the involved participants?
HOST SCHOOL
establishing international cooperation; improving managerial, organisational competences; strengthening cooperation with local institutions/authorities in Aliaga, Izmir; creating a positive image of the school in the community and education in European dimension.
The school prepared a Living Library event: dozens of students and teachers of the school took part in it. Students from 6 schools presented the culture of their regions: Aegean Region, Silesia, Alentejo, Central Croatia, Muntenia, Aquitaine.
TEACHERS
Establishing regional and international cooperation, exchanging good practices, working on project results, exchanging teaching techniques in regional education; getting to know Heydar Aliyev Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, making new contacts.

regional foods:
gözleme(Turkish pancake), edible herbs, Aegean style appetizers, cold starters, helva, Aegean desserts (kalburabastı, baklava), cheese, figs, flatbread with sesame seed paste, several types of Turkish delight, manti, aygar, Turkish tea, Turkish coffee, lokum, helva, baklava; meze; kofte. Meals were prepared for the participants with utmost care and attention.
customs: Zeybek dance for welcoming ceremony, Turkish Coffee on sand, Henna night- a wedding ritual, Ebru, art of Marbling, evil eye beads for protecting people from bad luck and from malevolent stare of someone.
getting to know the characteristic, historical and cultural places of Izmir in Turkey: Acropolis in Pergamon, Bergama, Efes, Virgin Mary's House, Sirince, Nazarkoy, Kozbeyli, Salepcioglu Mosque, Fokai, Aliaga.
