Heydar Aliyev Technical and Vocational High school (HAMTAL) is a school constructed in 2012 by the Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) and was donated to İzmir Aliağa National Education Directorate. We have 712 students aged 14-18. The school has a dormitory with 216 student capacity and a 300-people capacity conference hall. It is located in Aliağa, an industrial town of Izmir by the Aegean Sea.

HAMTAL provides vocational and technical training in Chemistry with branches: Laboratory technician-Chemistry Processing, Electric-Electronics /Industrial Maintenance-Electro-magnetic Carriers Maintenance, Mechanic /Technical Drawing-Mechanical Maintenance disciplines with 35 vocational teachers, 32 academic teachers. The school's mission is to provide 4 year training to students to be able to meet the intermediate labor force demanded by SOCAR, its subsidiaries and other industrial companies and make the students pursue an academic career in 3 disciplines for further education. HAMTAL is preferred by most of the students since the founders of the school, PETKIM a big petro-chemical company, SOCAR Azerbaijani State Oil Company give opportunities to successful students to work in their premises after graduation.

We have a project team to do their best to involve our students in EU and national projects to promote their learning. In 2018 we joined 3 E-twinning projects: "My European Friends’ News", "My Next Trip", "History of Objects, Objects of History". From 2018 we have been involved in 3 K229 projects („Entrepreneurship: Practical, Innovative and Creative” coordinated by Poland, „I’m safe at School” coordinated by Romania, „Green and Renewable Economy with Environmentally-Literate Employees in Need coordinated by Norway”) as partners and have finished them all successfully.

We have been implementing an Erasmus+Ka229 project called „Regional Education in Common European Culture and Education” coordinated by Poland together with high schools from Croatia, France, Portugal, Romania, started in 2020. We also have a sister school project with an Azerbaijani technical school located in Baku.
